Two Suspects of Murder in Sihanoukville Caught and Arrested in Phnom Penh

PHNOM PENH: Two suspects in connection with the shooting and murder committed on 4 December 2021, at Borey BLUE SKY in Preah Sihanouk Province, were caught and arrested in Phnom Penh on Sunday.

The caught suspects are Li Hongbo (also known as ‘Popo’), a Chinese man, and Mi Pov, a Vietnamese woman.

The Director of the Bureau of Minor Offenses, Lieutenant Colonel Kheng Meng Chheang, led the Sihanoukville Provincial Police and Phnom Penh Municipal Police (with the coordination of the Deputy Prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, Sith Vannak) to Borey Peng Huoth, House A-14 and House N77 in Chbar Ampov District, Phnom Penh, to catch the two suspects.

The Sihanoukville Provincial Police received information on 4 December 2021 from the Sangkat 4 Police Station that a Chinese man was shot dead in Borey BLUE SKY, House A252, Located in Group 22, Village 5, Commune 4, Preah Sihanouk Province.

The specialized force of the Sihanoukville Provincial Police immediately responded to the information, with the coordination of the Deputy Prosecutor of the Sihanoukville Provincial Prosecutor's Office, Penh Piseth, and went to inspect the scene. The victim was identified as a Chinese man named Jike Munai, whose body was found at the crime scene lying on the couch.

According to the investigation of the Sihanoukville Provincial Police, the victim was not the tenant of the house he was found in. The tenants of the house were a Chinese man named Li Hongbo, and his girlfriend, a Vietnamese woman named Mi Pov, who shortly escaped after the incident.

Both suspects have now been brought to the Criminal Police Department and handed over to the specialized force of Sihanoukville Provincial Police for further proceedings.
